The batten bar design is utilized in new construction FGD applications. Typical installations are based on .250" thick carbon steel bonded with .063" nickel based alloy or titanium. Sheets are typically 48" wide by custom length best suited for the particular application. Plates are available in both curved and flat sections for round chimneys or square ducts and are sheared or cut to any shape configuration necessary to accommodate transitions and such.

Typically on a 48" wide plate resistance welds that bond the lining metal to the carbon steel substrate are spaced on 6" intervals across the width of the plate for the entire length of the plate. There will be a 2" border around all 4 edges of the carbon steel plate which will not be clad. This is to allow room for welding the carbon steel. A 6" wide batten strip is then placed centrally over the carbon steel weld and is fused to the liner on both sides, creating a 100% seal and protecting the carbon steel.

Although standard plate sizes are 48" x 240" but we can produce plate sizes up to 96" x 480" (for transportation reasons, longer is possible). The .250" thick carbon steel is a the typical thickness, but thickness can range between .063" and up to 3" thick.
